Summer + Mirin = <

Our Limited edition Mirin has a summery twist

Nowadays Mirin tends to be associated with cooking, as a syrupy-sweet addition to many sauces, marinades, desserts, etc. However, when done right, it actually can be an incredibly complex and rich beverage to sip on at the end of a meal or even in a spritz cocktail. We make our own drinking-Mirin by aging our Junmai sake with Koji and sticky rice for months, resulting in a velvety-smooth, caramel-like profile. For this limited-series summer batch, we used Thai sticky rice from Siam Market which added a beautifully tropical note of pineapple to our classic Mirin flavor. Stop by the shop for your bottle while we have them!

Welcome to the team, india!

Hi, India here! I’m so excited to be joining the amazing team behind Kato Sake Works. I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Kato through my good friend Evan, who I’m sure you know from KSW already! My background is in social media and marketing, with an emphasis on community. My passions always seem to relate back to how we can connect with one another in meaningful ways, which sake lends itself to perfectly, I think.

When I’m not at Kato or sipping sake, you can find me at Hearts Wine and Spirits in Bushwick or designing playlists and cover art for friends and family. If you ever need new music, I’m here for you!

Until next time at KSW — cheers! Can’t wait to meet you all in person very soon.

What kind of cup should i drink sake out of?

People often ask us what types of glassware we recommend for sake drinking. Our go to is the stemless wineglass, because it allows for you to see the sake clearly and enjoy the aroma. That being said, we also tend to use red solo cups at parties, and it still tastes great. At the end of the day, you can drink sake out of whatever type of glass you’d like, but we’ve included an illustration of some classic and not-so-classic options. Enjoy!
