LOVE IS IN THE AIR AGAIN
For Valentines Day this year, we’ll be open and playing some romantic tunes on vinyl- candles lit, sake flowing, but no reservations or fuss, just a nice spot to share a carafe with your loved one(s), solo, or with friends. Leading up to the holiday, we’ll have gift boxes available at the taproom that include a bottle of your choice, two glasses, and a little card for you to write a note. Perfect for a romantic night in ❤. We’re also holding a small craft art fair on the Sunday before Valentines Day (February 11th), hosted by our very own Assistant Brewer, Maxine, and featuring a musical performance by Echo Huang at 5pm. There will be ceramics, cards, prints, flowers, and jewelry- all made locally. We’ll see you there!
OUR NOT-SO-DRY JAnuary
Sake jello shots, anyone? We had the best time ever celebrating Shinobu’s birthday (it was a big one) and I think we’re still recovering a little bit from the hangover. Shinobu, we’re so glad that you’ve worked so hard and chosen to create this space for us all to come together and party over a glass (or two) of delicious sake- I think this night was a beautiful example of all the friendships and community you’ve built, and we hope this year is the best one yet.
Speaking of parties, we held our first ever New Years Eve party at the brewery, and it was such a perfect way to ring in the new year. There are many amazing places that people can go to celebrate the holidays in NYC, and we were honored that so many of you chose to come in to drink sake, eat soba, and cheers with us at midnight. The perfect way to kick off the year! And the next day, Ayako cooked an absolute feast for us along with a special gift of Osechi from A-un, so we could share a meal together at the brewery while toasting with Otoso. Thank you!!
BEHIND THE COCKTAIL
Check out this incredibly cool video that our Bartender and Resident Cocktail-Creator Delaney Benstead made, showing a behind the scenes look into the development of our current Taproom cocktail, “Midnight Ember”. They do such an amazing job developing cocktails that highlight the sake we brew, while including different elements from our process into something totally new & special. Stay tuned for our next newsletter, where we’ll dive a little deeper into their process and share something pretty exciting!
PS- The sake jello shots really did happen as a fun toast for Shinobu’s birthday, thanks to James Ordway (shout out to Delaney for helping R&D)… and they were actually very delicious. Subtly fruity pairings like melon + junmai, with sake at the forefront of the flavor… Should we continue to develop them? Would you try it??
