HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM KSW!

CAN YOU TELL BY THE COSTUME WHAT WE’rE MOST EXCITED ABOUT THESE DAYS?

Okay… maybe some of you are wondering what in the world this costume is supposed to be. You know how when you’re walking by construction sights in the city there are those big dark-green walls with little windows for you to peek in? Well, Shinobu was looking forward to putting one of those up for our buildout, but our project isn’t quite invasive enough to need one… so I dressed up as one for Halloween. Yep.

LOOK HOW FAR WE’VE COME!

Our contractors have been hard at work.

They began with demolition of the existing structures and are now in the process of digging up the ground for floor drains and piping. FLOOR DRAINS!!! Dreams do come true. It may seem like a small thing, but when you’re washing and soaking rice every day, it’s a beautiful freedom to be able to move around with some water splashing and floor drains in place to catch whatever drips. Not to mention the improved ease when cleaning tanks and equipment. I could go on for paragraphs out of excitement, but I’ll spare you for now, because other exciting things are happening in the space. Our electrical panels have been upgraded and we’re getting ready to pour new concrete… once that’s cured, the next phase of construction will continue on.

The project is progressing every day- I’ll update you again in our November newsletter!

Ps- If you want to talk more about floor drains, just come by and ask for Joanie at the current brewery on Central- I’ll pour you a taste of sake and we can marvel at their beauty together.

SAY HI TO JAMES

Have you noticed our social media presence has been especially personable and witty as of late? Maybe even similar to the vibes you’ve experienced when stopping by our shop? It’s all thanks to James:

You might remember me as the greenhorn who introduced myself in last November’s newsletter, but for anyone who is just joining us:

My name is James and I’ve been overseeing sales at our taproom and the Maria Hernandez farmer’s market for the past year. This time around, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve taken over as our social media coordinator in addition to my sales position (talk about public-facing). It’s an honor to be so involved in developing the voice of our company and the quality of our customer interactions. I know I have big shoes to fill (we miss you India!) but I’m quite eager to share my passion for communication and knowledge about sake in a greater capacity over the coming months. See you in the shop and on your phones 💖.

PS- Warm jars of sake are on the horizon…
